All You Need to know about Canning Pears:

Ingredients Needed:
2 Boxes of pears resulted in 20 Quarts of canned pears.
Pears are picked green.
Store until they turn yellow but not soft.
We like a syrup of 2 parts of water to 1 part of sugar.

Italian Casserole recipe:
Ingredients needed:
1 lb. of ground beef
1/4 cup of chopped onion
1 envelope of spaghetti sauce mix
1 1/2 cups or 6 oz. of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 8oz. can of tomato sauce
1/2 cup of sour cream
1 8oz. can of Pilsbury cresent rolls
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons melted margarine

20 pounds of Cucumbers resulted in 19 pints of canned Bread ‘n Butter Pickles.
We use cucumbers of about 3-4 inches in length.
Ingredients Needed:
20 Pounds Cucumbers
5 Pounds Sugar
10 Cups Cider Vinegar
3 Large White onions
2.8 Oz Mustard Seeds
6 Cups Salt

1795 — Napoleon offers 12,000 francs to anyone who can devise a way to preserve food for his army and navy.
1809 — Nicolas Appert of France devises a way to preserving
food in bottles
. He wins prize preserving food through sterilization.
1810 — Peter Durand of England gets a patent using pottery, glass and tinplated iron to use in canning.
